Museum Educator-Part Time
Naper Settlement invites applications for a highly motivated, team-oriented, creative professional for the position of Museum Educator. This part time position is part of the Education Department and reports directly to the Education Manager. A museum educator communicates the interpretive themes of Naper Settlement by conducting educational programs, leading tours, and interacting with visitors to provide a quality experience to museum visitors of all ages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evening hours.Required Skills/Qualifications: Ability to develop and organize creative educational experiences. Communicate effectively and skilled in public speaking. Strong organizational skills. Knowledge of or interest in American, Illinois and Naperville History. Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evening hours. Physical agility, visual and auditory capability. High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous museum or teaching experience preferred.
Volunteer Manager-Full Time
Naper Settlement invites applications for a highly motivated, team-oriented, creative professional for the position of Volunteer Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to planning, developing and implementing all facets of volunteer operations, including recruitment, placement, retention, recognition, and evaluation. Responsibilities include preparation and oversight of the volunteer program budget and related report generation and analysis. Trains and supervises volunteers directly and indirectly.The volunteer manager provides leadership and coordination for the volunteer corps. Develops and implements recruitment and evaluation plans and strategies, and marketing materials for both targeted and general recruitment. Interviews and screens volunteer applicants. Selects and places volunteers according to project and organizational needs and suitability and skills of the volunteers. Maintains volunteer records, tracks volunteer time devoted to projects and tasks, results of volunteer activity, and prepares regular reports and analyses based upon goals and objectives.
Effective leadership and team building skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and communicate effectively. Able to successfully complete multiple tasks, priorities, and responsibilities, meeting numerous deadlines. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers and the public. Independent initiative and leadership including analytical thinking, goal and priority setting, problem solving, and follow through skills essential. Thorough understanding and experience in sound principles and practices of volunteer management. Public speaking skills a must, including presentations in small and large group settings. Ability and willingness to participate in strategic planning processes. Computer aptitude required.
Five years experience in volunteer administration, including recruitment, training, and program planning, preferably in a non-profit organization. Three or more years of supervisory experience including project development, coordination and implementation. Experience in database applications, specifically Raiser's Edge, preferred. Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Some fundraising experience helpful. Bachelor's degree from accredited university in non-profit management, human resources, museum studies, history, or other related field required.
Guest Services Associate Part-Time
Naper Settlement invites applications for a highly motivated, team-oriented, creative professional for the position of Guest Services Associate. This position reports directly to the Organizational Resources Manager. Provides a high level of customer service that aligns with Naper Settlement's Customer Service initiatives. Provides information and assistance to the general public regarding Naper Settlement daily operations, events and activities. Responsible for the sale of store merchandise, public programs, weddings, rentals and admission tickets on open days and during special events. Performs general office duties and clerical tasks in support of the Organizational Resources Department. Ability to work during the week and rotating weekends.Exceptional, friendly customer service skills. Clear, polite, effective phone etiquette including the ability to direct calls and take accurate messages. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and communicate effectively. Able to effectively complete multiple tasks, priorities, deadlines and responsibilities. Ability to work independently and cooperatively with staff and volunteers. Patron Edge and CounterPoint software experience preferred but not required and knowledge of Word and Excel required. Associates Degree required with one year or more experience in a retail operation, customer service or sales position.
